NaBloPoMo 2010 - Putting The Big Girl Panties On

Hello November (say it the Jerry Seinfeld voice - DO IT!)..........Well well well, what have we here? Another November is upon us. What does this one bring? I'll tell you what this one brings: A lot of grief. Of the football variety. People, you have no idea how it saddened my husband to learn that the Vikings put Randy Moss on waivers today. Serrrsly . It boggles his mind. He never thought the Vikings would be on this road to what? Misery? A trainwreck? It's worse than when they lost last year in the playoffs. Dare I say, it's worse than when the Twinkies lost to those em effing stinkin' Yankees. My husband loves all things sports related. Ya'll have heard of Deer Widows right? Well, I have it worse than that. That? One weekend. Two if they bow hunt. Me? I've got that when it's football, baseball, hockey and college hockey and football season. AND don't even get me started on the godforsaken Gopher football program. My husband says the Eden Prair...

9/11/10

At least they like each other. Sometimes. When they are going at each other, as siblings are prone to do, most times I let them "duke" it out. Other times I step in and make it stop. I tell them that life is too short to be fighting this way. Especially over who sits in the end seat on the couch. There are two ends people.  Getting them to understand that someday all they'll have is each other is so hard. I mean yes, they have cousins and aunts and uncles and all that good stuff but still. Life is too short. When September 11 happened, the husband and I had just moved in together. We'd been dating for 7 months and were planning our wedding for the following summer. He snores so I was sleeping in the recliner in the living room. He went to work. I slept in. Ahh, I miss those days. Darn kids.  When I was in that half awake, half asleep mod...

Is It Karma? Is It Murphy's Law? Is It Him Acting Like A 14yr Old? (No Offense To The 14yr Olds Out There*)

It seems the tides may be turning. No matter if you watched Jon and Kate Plus 8 or not, everyone had an opinion on them. I used to like them in the beginning. How could you not? Those kids are so stinking cute and really? The logistics of raising twins and sextuplets peaked my interest. For the first season, I didn't really think anything of how Kate talked to Jon. I was still in the "holy bat balls! she has eight kids! is she crazy?!" phase. I was fascinated that they were so organized, the kids pretty much listened. I don't know, maybe it was because Jon was out of the house working? That may be it. He wasn't home during the day so there wasn't much to do with the Kate/Jon dynamics. Then I started to put aside the logistics and the mad parenting skills of keeping 6 two year olds together and not lose one in the grocery store. I started to see what my sister in law was talking about. What others were talking about. This woman? Who has eight children (have I m...
