I was saddened to read this news today. I'm sure Ed and the boys will carry on just fine but it'll be hard to hear them without Steve. This is perhaps my most favorite song of theirs: That last line is so fitting I think, given what's happened. Sheesh, seems like a death. Man up woman! People leave bands all the time. Just sucks when it's one of your all time favorite bands. Damn.

Comfort Food Music

You know what always puts me in a good mood (or better if that's the best I can do)? Pretty much any song this man sings. If I want to be taken back to summers in high school or the sailors and other dumb boys I had crushes on back in those days? All I have to do is listen to this , this or this . If I need some perking up, I can listen to this , this or this . I could listen to this and this all the time. I think he has such a distinctive voice and sound, musically. Every once in awhile I think back to when the husband took me to see them in concert. I still get shivers and am still a little embarrassed that I cried at the concert. A few times. (In my defense, I never went to a concert until I was 18 and living in Germany. That's another story for another day {if I ever remember to tell it}). I hear this music and other groups like them and really, it's like I'm back in the late 80's and I love it. I miss those days. Really. I do. So, what music takes you bac...

10 x 10 Part Deux

Shocker! I'm following up on a post! Ten Of My Favorite Bloggers* Sarah - My wishes of having twins are lived vicariously through her Dooce - Because she's Dooce Momo - I am fairly certain that her son and my son would be great friends Ree - She makes want to live on a ranch. Sometimes. Danny - Rage Against The Meshugenah Matthew - The letters to his twins are the best! Matt and Madeline - An awesome dad from my neck of the woods Alice - I want to meet Henry. And Alice too =0) Kevin - I'm assuming this is his name haha but still, one funny guy Rebecca - She says the things some of us moms are afraid to say. Out loud. Ok that's all I have for right now because the husband is waiting for me to decide what we're doing for date night. Since I won't be blitzed when I get home, I'll finish the other four if I'm not asleep. Ha! *Spellcheck wants to me call bloggers floggers. Um, no, I don't think so.

Ahh To Be A Teenager Again

I'm considered old by the kids at my store. I used to take offense at it but when I think about it, I suppose I am in some ways. I always tell them that in some bad neighborhoods, I'm old enough to be their mom. For real ya'll . In eighth grade, one of my classmates had a baby. You read that right. Her kid can go out drinking with her now. I still marvel at that. I can barely contain my almost 5 year old boy and she can go paint the town with her kid. Yikes. Then there's the music. I like to think I'm hip to what the kids are listening to these days. However, having said "hip to what the kids listen to" kind of negates that whole theory. I ask them what they consider classic rock. They come back with Metallica . That's after thinking for quite sometime on it. I almost passed out when a kid at my old store said people like Duran Duran and Poison . Good music yes, but not classic rock. Am I mistaken or would Led Zepplin , The Rolling Stones , etc, fal...

All I Want For Christmas

Stupid stupid me. I wait until now to decide that I want a Nintendo Wii. I wait until now to ask the husband if we can get one and he says yes. Do you think that I can find one anywhere? Of course not, that would make too much sense. We can't have that in Casa de la Crazy. I am in desperate need for one. I need to go bowling. Do you people get this? I NEED it. Help a sister out. I don't think the husband would like it if we spent more than $300 on the system. Gah. On the upside, the husband's gift came in and since we are impatient people in Casa de la Crazy, I gave it to him already. I'm too lazy to link to pictures so I'll just keep typing about it. I got him the newest iPod Nano. Ha! I typed Nana. Anywhoo, there was free engraving so I got one saying You Rock Daddy! We love you! I forgot to turn the auto update off on the iTunes so now he has all my music on his iPod. That means entire albums of Blue's Clues, Laurie Berkner and Doodlebops. Yeah, he's not ...

Say What?

Can you believe these kids are 10 now? I just want to know where the hell that decade went. Sheesh. I don't know that I can believe a quit smoking plan that was started by a guy who shares a name with this one . I was listening to clips from Kidz Bop 398 the other day and discovered the kidlets singing a fabulous rendition of this gem . The boy was acting out a scene from Spiderman 3 the other day (shocking, I know). He went up to his dad and said "I like the new look Spiderman". Then he pretended that Spiderman webbed his camera and he threw it across the room. He looked at his father, hands gesturing and said "What the hell?". Hard to argue with that when it is the dialogue he heard. Someone asked me at work tonight if I suffer from SAD like so many of our customers appear to and I said no, I'm just a bitch. I'm all about the honesty. That's all I've got today people. The boy and I have been having a rough week. 1/2 step forward, 2 steps bac...

A Good Time Will Be Had, I'm Sure

The Captain is excited. Pert near giddy I say. Tomorrow night, while I slave away at work and my mother in law is tortured with the children, my husband and his cousin will be enjoying this . I know I'll be just as excited if I ever get to see this guy *, this one ** or these fellas *** live. A girl can wish right? *This one better happen soon, the man's getting up there (66) ** He may be gay, who knows. He's still hot and his music makes me dance. That's a visual you do not want to see, trust. ***Oh. My. God. Come on! Funny hasn't been this hot in a long time! Here's a few more asterisks in case you didn't think there were enough: * * * * * *

On The Fence

What do we think about this ? (and by we, I mean all 4 of my raders) One of my favorite groups ever, no doubt about it. It's not bad but not something I thought would be on an album. From them. Sing it in concert to get the crowd going? Sure. Maybe I just don't like my 80's all funky like and trying to be 2007. No, it's cause I'm in a bitchy mood and just don't like it period. But I do like it. A little. Gah. I'm going to get a drink.

Dear Lord,

I beg of you kindly, Please remove this from my head. It's been there for entirely too long and quite honestly, I don't know how in the h-e-double hockey sticks it got there. Thanks in advance! With All My Love, Lil Ol' Me

Wanna Smile?

Sure, we all do. First up, an awesome "new" song that I found a few days ago. Just watch the video. Then watch it again and again. You see new things you didn't notice before and hey, the song kicks ass! Secondly, a classic. An oldie but goodie. This one never fails to make me laugh. Alright Janice. Laugh. You know you want to.

Mr. Moviephone Must Die

I just wanted to know how much the ticket would be for the two year old. That's all. I already know when the movie will be showing, where the theatre is located and other such things that I really don't give a rat's patootey about. How much are ya gonna milk me for the toddler who probably won't see 1/2 of the flick? I didn't find out til we got to the place.* My son has been raving about Flushed Away ever since the previews started showing on the tv. He has never been to the movies because hi, Mommy has enough stress going on all day everyday and to toss in the movies with the two kidlets is like tossing her in with the lions ala Gladiator . (If Joaquin was there though, I would be ok). Let me tell you right now: I don't know who those children were and what they did with mine but they can come see us anytime. These kids sat down and were quiet, quiet! , in the theatre for 9/10 of the movie. At the end they both wanted to see it again. We had one stinky diape...

The Man In Black Makes Me Cry

I never thought in a million years I would ever say (out loud or to myself) that I really like Johnny Cash . Everytime I hear a song of his, I want to cry. In a good way of course. This is one of those things I wish I had learned to appreciate when it was around me. I'm planning on getting some of his albums. Maybe some of the collections but I've heard so many of his "non charting" songs and man, I really, really like them. I will admit right here and now that this thing with Johnny started with Joaquin . When I saw that he would be playing him and add Reese to the cast? How could I not see the movie? I was so moved by the Cash's story. Truly. I cry everytime I see the movie. I cry when I hear Ring of Fire (unless I'm with tipsy/drunk people who think it's an ad for Prep H ). His voice is so soothing and almost healing**. His influence on people in completely different genres of music is astounding. His connection to the common man is something that yo...

Say What? Peanut's Shirts Version

Guess where I will be tonight? If you guessed here , you're so wrong. However, if you guessed here or here , well, you are smarter than I can ever aspire to be. The Captain got 4 tickets to tonight's game. How awesome is he? I've never been to one (not even in high school) yet I love the game. I'm such an enigma. Anyway, the seats aren't too shabby. Second level but they are at the 50yd line so who the hell am I to complain? Thanks to Smiley at work for taking my shift tonight. We're even now. I will be sure to write about it tomorrow or the next day. Does anyone think I could do this ? It would guarantee a post everyday but I don't know that anyone would care. Maybe? Hmm. I've got 'til Tuesday night to decide. I keep going back and forth. Ok I'm doing it. I've just decided. Wish me luck. Ideas perhaps?? Monkey Boy discovered today that popcorn dipped in ketchup and topped off with a piece of a corndog is really "delicious"*. (EDIT...

White and Nerdy Is What I Am

That's how I felt in high school in N. Chicago. Even though I hung out with all the stoners and metalheads I still felt uber nerdy. Fun times. I have always loved parodies of songs and no one does it better than Weird Al. Thanks to Sean for pointing out this new one to me. I still need to figure out what the hell the original song is about, Riding Dirty . Is he rapping about sex without a condom? Not showering? What the hell? (ok I just looked it up and yeah, I wish I hadn't) So I don't think my medication is doing the job it's required to. Perhaps it needs to be upped? I've never been on anti depressants before so what the hell do I know? I do know that my insomnia is getting out of control. I can't function on 3 or 4 hours of sleep like back in the day. I have meds that are supposed to help with that too but they don't. I still lay there for hours. I take the happy ones in the morning and the sleepy ones at night and nothing. Blah. That's all I hav...

30-40 I'm Getting There

40. I Will Remember You - Sarah McLachlan This song, wow, it means so much to me everytime I hear it. I don't think I can tell you how much it affects me. 39. Brass Monkey - The Beastie Boys Love the horns. Love 'em! 38. Head Like A Hole - Nine Inch Nails I used to sing this really loud when I had headphones on and yeah, that's not a good idea sometimes. 37. Poison - Bell Biv Devoe Don't ask and I won't tell 36. Firestarter - Prodigy The man scares the shit out of me but he gets me moving 35. Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle One of the most overplayed songs ever and yet it was my Daddy/Daughter song at the wedding 34. It's Tricky - Run DMC All time fave from the Rev and crew. Walk This Way was good but I dig this one 33. Everybody Hurts - REM This is probably the only song I like from them and I'll probably get hate mail for not "appreciating their contribution to the alternative music scene" and for not liking any of their other shit. 32. B...

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow 41-60

Not all of the hair is gone but most of the big hair is. 60. Bombs Over Baghdad - Outkast I love when you can't understand most of the words in a song. Really though, I love just about anything by them. Andre 3k shares my birthday with me. Never sends me a card. Bastard. 59. Sister Christian - Night Ranger Ya know how everyone has that one song that reminds them of teenage love? Really takes you back to the days of carefree love and life? An anthem for their angst filled years? This isn't the song for me. I just love the drums. 58. Underneath Your Clothes - Shakira Love love love her voice. She's on the short list of women that are nice eye candy. And the moves? She and Plushenko should get together and hip it out. 57. Digital Getdown - N*SYNC I don't think it's any secret that my musical taste ranges from good to absolute and udder wtf was she thinking? status. I hear this and it reminds me of LaCrosse for some reason. I'm pretty sure I wanted JC and/or Ju...

61-80 The Hair Edition

80. 18 and Life - Skid Row I'm convinced that if we have another boy his name will be Sebastian. Did anyone watch Supergroup? Love him even more after he showed his emotions regarding his father passing. I cried along with him. Just stop the drinking Baz, you'll be ok. 79. We Are The Dinosaurs - Laurie Berkner Even if you don't have children, please for the love of all things holy, watch the video. I love the song more now because of the video but also because my neice and daughter sing it so cute. I'll have to put those videos up. 78. All That She Wants - Ace of Base I have no clue why I like it, I'm sure there will be more of these kinds of selections. Sorry. 77. Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue This one always makes me think of the sailors at the bowling alley in Great Lakes. I had so many crushes and my poor father had a heart attack with a couple of the guys I did date. Sorry Pops. 76. Rock Me - Great White Once Bitten was overplayed I think. This one always g...

81-100 Be Prepared....

...to say, "What the frickin frack is she smoking over there? and why is she not sharing? " I am such a goofy goober. I can't possibly list 100 of my favorite songs. Putting them in order? Fuhgeddaboutit. I'm just gonna go balls to the walls and list the first 100 I can think of. I have no doubt whatsoever that I will look back on the list and go "What the shit is that on there for?". I'm sure I'll get tired of looking for videos for these as well or I'll get bored with artist videos and pick some weird shit. Also, I'm limiting myself to 3 songs by one artist. If I really like more than three, well, call the Pope cause a miracle has occured. That being said, in no particular order, numbers 81-100 of my top 100 songs. 100. Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing - Chris Issak This song makes me think naughty thoughts and my husband is ok with that. TMI I know, sorry. 99. Because The Night - Natalie Merchant One of the few songs that I feel confident I can s...
