He Makes Me Proud. And Nervous.

So my son, my six year old, funny, sweet looking, sincere boy has done something that boggles my mind. Shocking, I know but roll with it. He has beaten Super Mario 64 on the Wii. We downloaded the game for him 19 days ago. He's beaten. the. game. I don't know if I should be more proud or nervous about this. Silly, I know but look, this kid does his research . No lie. He goes on YouTube*, types in Super Mario 64 and finds all these videos of other people playing. He watches them intently, memorizing every screen shot. He retains all of that information and uses when he plays the game himself. When he started playing Super Mario 3 on the Wii, he found a warp whistle that I never knew existed in the 20 years that game has been out. My friends and I would play that game for hours on end in high school. This boy of mine goes online, watches some videos and poof! he knows where all this extra stuff is. Extra stuff that would have saved my friends and I a lot of grief in our hours wa...

The Boy and His Chair

The kids have this folding chair with fish on it. We call it the Game Chair. If you want to play the Wii, you must be sitting in this chair (not the big folks, just the under 6 yr old variety). At any rate, the boy loves to play Animal Crossing and decided to draw it out for all the world to see. In this photo you can see the intricate detail of the fish chair. He has also drawn his GameCube controller with the cord going to the Wii. Note the large smile on his face. I was told by my son to tell you every detail of the photo but really? I think it speaks volumes on it's own merit. I think there's talent there though I am biased. I'm not ashamed to admit that either. For a boy who has difficulties in so many areas, this is not one of them. He loves to draw. We may have to buy another refridgerator just for the artwork. We haven't even tapped into what he brings home from preschool. My plan with all of those pieces is to save ten of them and take photos of the others. I...

A Little Of This And That

That whole 365 blogging? Yeah no. I was laughing so much watching this . My kids started laughing with me but in their defense, they couldn't hear anything and they wouldn't know what was being said anyway. Anyone else play Animal Crossing for the GameCube? Damn Nintendo for making it Wii compatible. Guess who has to use a timer to play it? Besides the boy? It's fascinating the differences between my son and my daughter. He never had pretend conversations with himself. He would make up stories and songs with us , and still does but Peanut? She's sitting on the stairs right now talking to her babies and making up a story for them so they'll go to sleep. She does this all the time. Maybe I'm just so used to how he is that to see her in a different light is, well, enlightening. (I realize that whole thing probably made no sense. Oh well. It made sense to me.)

This Wii Thing Can Be Dangerous

I know I've told ya'll about my Wii arm. It kills when I play for a long time in one sitting. Mandy had Wii back today and yesterday from all the bowling. My poor niece now has Wii Booty . She has been kicking butt and taking names at bowling. She's so stinking good at it. She's gotten some strikes. She almost beat me. Well, no she didn't but for a kid who's going to be 4 in late January she was awesome! * note that there are two videos. Some people think they are the same one. Nope. One gives you a crick in your neck and the other makes you feel bad for her.

Who Woulda Thunk It?

Last year I petered out not even halfway through the month. It's harder than one thinks to blog everyday. I mean I know talk a lot but when it comes to putting something in writing, that's more difficult that I ever thought it would be. I try no to be mundane and do a wussy post (such as yesterdays). A lot of times it's my son that's on my mind and really, I don't know that ya'll wanna hear me complain ad nauseum about how we're losing our grip on sanity. How we have no idea where to begin with treatment for him. Who do we call first? What methods will be most productive and positive for him. See? Not so much fun there. I did read on a gossip blog that Britney Spears is pregnant again but the same source that told them that also said later that it was false. Whew. Useless info, I know but in my world? Meaty stuff. Have I mentioned that I'm addicted to the Wii? I think so. I should have taken a nap when the boy was at school because my MIL took the girl w...

Aww Jeez

Seems that I like the Wii. A lot. I bowled so much yesterday. The husband and I went out last night and shot darts for a couple hours. Then today, my sister in law and her husband came over. We bowled more. I played baseball. I'm so unAmerican because I can't stand baseball. Too boring for me. I like it on the Wii though. Apparently I'm good at throwing fast pitches. I'm also good at making my shoulder feel like it wants to leave my body. "Great, we spend all that money on a Wii and now we'll have medical bills from The Broad bowling. Fabulous." My poor husband. Also, I think I'm missing the page in my son's operating manual that talks about stinky toots (are they toots when talking about a boy or are they farts? Gah!) when he hasn't eaten anything to make him gassy or the gas stinky. What. The. Hell. The kid stinks people. Very much bad.

And I'm Spent

We got one ! We got one ! I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I bowled for awhile today. The boy and I played golf. The girl kept telling us we were doing a great job. I told my MIL that if she hears someone moving around in the middle of the night, it's me playing. The husband said it better not be. I think he's afraid I'll get lost in it while playing. Could happen. Won't know until we try right? and Kota? The golf game is fun, even for a non golfer such as moi.
