Toddler Theatre

In our house, we have a thespian. Two of them really. We've always known Sophia has a flair for the dramatics and really, I have no idea where she gets that from. :::cough::: she's the apple, I'm the tree :::cough::: Sophia loves to over act, over react, over dramatize things. All of the things. And the Academy would like to recognize Sophia for Best Dramatic Performance. It can be exhausting sometimes trying to figure out how horrible, no good, very bad a situation on the bus was when she's telling me about it. I have to take it all with a grain of salt (and just what the hell does THAT mean anyway? nevermind). Celia though, she's in the movie. In her mind. IN THE MOVIE MAMA! She is currently starring in her own version of Charlotte's Web, the live action version, thankyouverymuch. I am always reminded that I am Charlie and she is Wilvur. That's how the names are said and don't you even think of correcting her. It is not recommended. Most days I am Ch...

The Parent Rap

Hands down, funniest thing I've seen in so long. So accurate and true. Enjoy: Thanks Georgia for posting this!

1/7/11 The Toddler That Won't Quit

It's just after midnight. I'm trying to finish the first disc in the Freaks and Geeks Complete Series set that I got for my  birthday from my kick ass husband. The toddler* wakes up. The video below is what happened for the next half hour. She's still awake, I had to pry her face from the laptop camera. Deep breathing is good for you. Deep breathing......deep breathing...... * my god does that pain me to type toddler . for real.

She Rocks The Party

We played some Guitar Hero last night. A good time was had by all but especially the baby. Future Demetra Plakas ? (minus the whole contest to sleep with her part of course) or perhaps Kate Shellenbach (I love this song! ) maybe even Sandy West . Time will tell.

The Love Is Still There

She was still tired after lunch and her nap but oh how she loves watching them. I am still so sad that I couldn't take the kids to MOA to see Big Time Rush. I hate that they were thisclose to us and there was nothing I could do. They still don't know I was going to take them. I don't think I'll ever let them know.

I Can't Stop Laughing......

So I'm reading this , because I love everything she writes ( here too ) and these videos? They are making me giggle. Giggle to the point that I am waking the baby up. So not good. Then I get to the comments and this video was linked. People? It has taken me at least fifteen minutes to type this up without typos. I need a tissue. Several please. If I don't stop soon, I could very well......oh let's not go there.

10/10/10 Part Deux

Just testing this thing out. You know, my video skills. I think they are failing. In an epic way. Awwwwwe. Sommmmmme. ED: She's whispering "Wow" It's her new thing. Also? Making ya'll strain to hear it is my new thing. Yeah, sorry 'bout that.

Overflowing Pride

I have found that explaining my son's behavior is tedious. I don't like to do it. It makes me feel like a failure at this parenting gig (and damn! ya'll know how hard it is already and then you throw Aspergers in there? Shit). Sometimes I make jokes about his behavior, a defense mechanism when I get dirty looks or when I am near my breaking point in public. Sometimes I feel such a deep sorrow for him. He's the one that gets the looks, he's the one that people whisper about as he walks away (and believe me people, I've seen it). I've said it before and I'll say it again, he's lucky that he doesn't get it. He's lucky in that he doesn't realize that the teenagers he was just "hanging out with for a minute because they are cool" are now laughing at him. Kills me , he is spared. He had a school concert a couple weeks ago. He couldn't make up his mind if he was going to do this or not. I would say he changed his mind a good dozen ...
I was saddened to read this news today. I'm sure Ed and the boys will carry on just fine but it'll be hard to hear them without Steve. This is perhaps my most favorite song of theirs: That last line is so fitting I think, given what's happened. Sheesh, seems like a death. Man up woman! People leave bands all the time. Just sucks when it's one of your all time favorite bands. Damn.

Comfort Food Music

You know what always puts me in a good mood (or better if that's the best I can do)? Pretty much any song this man sings. If I want to be taken back to summers in high school or the sailors and other dumb boys I had crushes on back in those days? All I have to do is listen to this , this or this . If I need some perking up, I can listen to this , this or this . I could listen to this and this all the time. I think he has such a distinctive voice and sound, musically. Every once in awhile I think back to when the husband took me to see them in concert. I still get shivers and am still a little embarrassed that I cried at the concert. A few times. (In my defense, I never went to a concert until I was 18 and living in Germany. That's another story for another day {if I ever remember to tell it}). I hear this music and other groups like them and really, it's like I'm back in the late 80's and I love it. I miss those days. Really. I do. So, what music takes you bac...

And This Is My Boy

My precious boy looks like him (minus a couple teeth) but was doing this for the last few days.
