Oh man was that fun last night! Went to the Wild game and had a great time. I love going to hockey games and I love hocky players. I never thought in a million years that I would like the sport. No one in my family is a fan - we're strictly football and basketball (NCAA). A few years ago a friend of mine took me to a Milwaukee Admirals game. I was hooked the moment we sat down. Now that we live in The State Of Hockey, I can enjoy the games even more. When I entered the Excel Center last night, I honestly could name maybe three players. I have always liked Kuba because of his name (and he can play). Then I saw this young man. Not the best photo of him but on the ice? YUM-UHM-MMY. Yeah. I need a moment..... Ok. I don't need any grief over picking a favorite player based on cuteness. I won my fantasy hockey league a couple years ago and I chose all of my players based on cuteness and if I liked their name. That pissed off some hockey stat geeks I'm sure but oh well. Back to the boys: I think I'm going to see about getting some shirts with his name on them. I'm not so sure about a jersey with name/number on them. People change teams so much. My SIL's hockey boy, Chouinard, is definately worth watching.
Now I am, without a doubt, NOT a hockey intelligent person (see picking players on cuteness) but even I could see last night that they were throwing passes away, making some silly mistakes, etc but the checks? Oh they had those dead on. We were 4 rows from the glass and it was fabulous to see the check coming: facial expressions, body tensing up, the impact, the stunned look. Oh it was glorious.
I wish that I had looked at the schedule before last night's game. I would have tried to get tickets to the Dallas game. I'm always a Wild fan first but the Dallas Stars are a close second. Since they were originally the Minnesota Northstars, it works out better. Bonus: My all time favorite player, Mike Modano used to play for the Northstars and went with the team when it was moved to Dallas. It's all good to cheer for him. It would have been sweet to see the Wild and Dallas. They were here a couple weeks ago. Figures. The Wild play March 22 in Dallas. I've always wanted to go there. Hmmm.
There's an intricate plan forming as we speak.
