Get Down With The Sickness

My Peanut has a fever*. Since Friday she's been rocking a steady fever from 101.2 to it's highest so far of 105.2 today. I took her to the doc this morning when the highest it had been was 104.5. She was on Tylenol all weekend, thank god she likes them, but the fever never went below 101 so we were getting concerned. The doc, not her normal one, said that she looked fine and because she seemed to be feeling ok, he didn't feel inclined to prescribe anything. Normally I would be all for that, I don't like medicating if I don't have to. However, my kids are weirdos and I've proven that fact several times in this blog. They don't act like normal sick kids when they are sick. When Monkey Boy was 18mos old he had a fever of 104 while we were visiting some friends in LaCrosse. You never would have known it. He was running around, giggling and have a grand ole time. Peanut is the same way although she likes to snuggle when she's tired and sick. She was great at the doctor's office and because of that, the doc thought there was nothing wrong with her. Well, The Captain called me at work to inform me of the 105.2 temp and that was it. I was coming home to my baby. No way could I work worrying about her. An hour after the Tylenol daddy gave her and it was down to 103.7 then 102.3 and hour after that. I'm sure she'll spike again in the night. I'm calling her doc's office tomorrow and telling them that something is wrong with her. She's had a temp of over 101 for 4 days now with it never dipping below that 101. 4 kids have died from influenza here in the Land Of Lakes and I don't want my daughter being kid number 5. I know I'm overreacting with the death thing but really, 105.2 and they don't want me to take her to the ER?

What would you do? I need some other moms to chime in. I don't want to be paranoid but I don't want her to get seriously ill either.

Gah, I almost forgot, I didn't even realize until we got home from her appt that they never. took. her. temperature. My primary concern was the fever and they never checked it. With all the questions and weighing and what not, I never noticed and now I'm really pissed. I think I may tell them that if I have to bring her back in tomorrow that they can just ignore my co pay because I'm not paying it again AND add the fact that insurance probably won't cover a second visit the very next day. Oh now I'm all worked up. GAH!!!!

*She has a fever indeed

I'm pretty much a "Smother Mother", but my kid has never had a fever that high. You can bet I'd be down there at the ER screaming blue murder, though.

I can't believe they didn't take her temperature! Holy ol' Joe, give them a slap!

Hugs going your way - I'm sure everything will work out just fine.

105? I would definitely take her in somewhere. One of my twins had a fever about 103-104 last year and for the life of me, I could not get it to go down. Turned out to be some "viral" thing and we were told to switch to a different med to see if that worked. It ended up going away a few more days after that. None of my other kids ever had anything like that before.

This Has To Be Said

I haven't blogged in 8 months. We bought a house, still unpacking, school started. You know, life. I felt the need, the urgent need to blog about the Adrian Peterson situation today. I am full of all sorts of feelings and had to write about it. I would love to hear your thoughts on this whole thing. No really, I would. I don't feel I was a douchebag in my writing so all I ask is you not be a douchebag in your response. Thanks. My thoughts on the Adrian Peterson situation (but first, some backstory): I was spanked as a child. I'm pretty sure most of us that grew up in the 80s were. Until the summer between 5th and 6th grade I lived in Charelston, SC and from 6th to 11th grade, North Chicaco, IL. I have seen every form of discipline doled out on a child. I've seen spankings, beatings, hairbrushes smacked into heads, spoons hitting the tops of heads, whips, belts and even switches. I've seen it all. Most of you know that my son is named after a little boy who

This, That and The Other

I can already tell that Thanksgiving and Christmas are going to suck ass even more than it normally would at my job. Last night, a guy was telling me how much he gave me, how much he was supposed to get back and THEN told me what order to give it back to him in. Um? Sir? I'm not a twit, ok, I am a twit, but I'm not an idiot. Ok, sometimes I can be. Like that time I moved up to Wisconsin in the middle of a blizzard from nice, warm Tucson, AZ for a dumb boy and we broke up less than two months later. Yeah that sucked but my point is: I've been in retail, just about every job one could have except store manager, for about oh, 19 years. I think I know what I'm doing when it comes to giving change back. Don't talk to me like I'm a 16 yr old kid who's working his first job and doesn't give a shit what kind of work ethic he has. I care about you as a customer but when you're a dick to me and pissing off everyone in my line so they are dicks to me ? Well,

Trish Needs.......

I did this cause of Suzi, whose page I read religiously - check her out here . I'm going with the top 30 Google responses to "Trish needs" because SO many of them are related to wrestling of which I am a fan but not capable of doing without killing myself and/or the other person (unless it's the husband in bed but we won't go there. No. We won't. His sister reads this! Hi Steph!) I've decided to add commentary where I feel it's needed because, well, because I can. 1. Trish needs to always be in control of the situation and her men (amen to that my friends) 2. Trish needs to get this card off as soon as possible 3. Trish needs to do some serious damage control 4. Trish needs your help (help packing, help mentally, help with laundry, help with Monkey Boy, etc) 5. Trish needs to come to OPS and talk to all counselors & supervisors 6. Trish needs a makeover ( I don't think it's THAT bad!) 7. Trish needs an intervention (I do not have an Oreo pr
