Rotten Isn't So Bad

I've found that sometimes being lazy isn't so bad. Energy isn't really a word that exists in my vocabulary. It used to be there. Long ago, before kids. Some people say kids make you feel young. Can I try those kids out for a bit?

Monkey Boy is enamored with Lazytown. I used to be freaked out with the show because it has 3 humans and the rest are puppets. It's a little creepy to watch at first. Then, when I realized that it made Monkey Boy want to exercise, I was all over it. One downside: it's on at the same time The Doodlebops are. Some days he wants one, some days, the other. Hard to tell until the meltdown happens. I did some research on Lazytown to see what it was all about. They call fruits and veggies "Sports Candy". Not a bad idea since Monkey Boy is all about candy. Then, of course, I had to see what Sportacus and Robbie Rotten looked like out of character. Well, needless to say, I watch it now as well. How can you not like the name StefÃn Karl StefÃnsson? Sounds delicious. I'm such a bad mom, watching The Wiggles just to see Greg Wiggle and obsessing over Robbie Rotten. I've admitted my lusting here for Greg. My husband thinks I'm crazy but I have a theory. If it was mostly men staying home with the kids (and sometimes I think that would be FABulous) I think there would be more women in the kids' shows. However, since it's mostly moms (and I'm not complaining), I think the creators of these shows know they have to pull us in as well. Toss a couple good looking fellas in there and you'll have mom watching too!

Then there's The Backyardigans. I love this show. The kids' voices are all so damn cute! I try to sing the theme song and Monkey Boy just has a fit. Either I can't sing or he wants to hear THEM sing it. I'll take A and B Bob.

I didn't think this was going to turn into a kids' show post but I'll run with it.

My all time favorite though is Steve from Blue's Clues. I think he auditioned for the show with long hair and a leather coat on. Glad they could see through that image and hired him. I watched this show long before I had kids. I have nothing against Steve's "brother" Joe who is played by a great guy, Donovan Patton but they really dumbed him up good. I mean Joe, not Donovan. Steve was just dumb enough to come off as endearing. Joe? They made Joe dumber than a box of rocks. I know Steve went of to college and Joe is the younger brother but they didn't have to make Joe intellectually inferior. I don't know why I get so, GUH, about this. I'm weird.

I can't stand Dora and Diego so much that I can't link them. I won't subject people to cruel and unusual punishment. Well, I mean, I will but not today.

Maybe tomorrow.

How did I miss this post before?

You are right about robbie. I had no idea. I think the show is unwatchable. It gives me nightmares.

I Can't Wait

I know of no one who agrees with me that Jason Mewes is hot. This is a bad example and this is definately NOT hot. That's ok though. I remember the good, forget the bad. I make no excuses for my taste*. For fans of Clerks , Chasing Amy , Dogma , Jay and Silent Bob , etc , check it out: P.S. I've been working 'til 11 or midnight most nights so I'm pooped. I'll blog more. I promise. Was I missed though? * Or lack thereof to some people

This, That and The Other

I can already tell that Thanksgiving and Christmas are going to suck ass even more than it normally would at my job. Last night, a guy was telling me how much he gave me, how much he was supposed to get back and THEN told me what order to give it back to him in. Um? Sir? I'm not a twit, ok, I am a twit, but I'm not an idiot. Ok, sometimes I can be. Like that time I moved up to Wisconsin in the middle of a blizzard from nice, warm Tucson, AZ for a dumb boy and we broke up less than two months later. Yeah that sucked but my point is: I've been in retail, just about every job one could have except store manager, for about oh, 19 years. I think I know what I'm doing when it comes to giving change back. Don't talk to me like I'm a 16 yr old kid who's working his first job and doesn't give a shit what kind of work ethic he has. I care about you as a customer but when you're a dick to me and pissing off everyone in my line so they are dicks to me ? Well, ...

This Has To Be Said

I haven't blogged in 8 months. We bought a house, still unpacking, school started. You know, life. I felt the need, the urgent need to blog about the Adrian Peterson situation today. I am full of all sorts of feelings and had to write about it. I would love to hear your thoughts on this whole thing. No really, I would. I don't feel I was a douchebag in my writing so all I ask is you not be a douchebag in your response. Thanks. My thoughts on the Adrian Peterson situation (but first, some backstory): I was spanked as a child. I'm pretty sure most of us that grew up in the 80s were. Until the summer between 5th and 6th grade I lived in Charelston, SC and from 6th to 11th grade, North Chicaco, IL. I have seen every form of discipline doled out on a child. I've seen spankings, beatings, hairbrushes smacked into heads, spoons hitting the tops of heads, whips, belts and even switches. I've seen it all. Most of you know that my son is named after a little boy who ...
